Path of Exile’s last league before the release of Path 3.0 or Fall of Oriath will be Legacy League. This will be a “flashback” league in the sense that will let you play all the previous leagues of the past. In Legacy league, there will be league stones that drop. Each league stone corresponds with a specific league and they cannot be crafted. You can equip three of these league stones at any one time. When equipped, they will provide the next three zones you enter with a league. This will allow you to play three leagues of your choice at once! During these leagues, you can acquire items that only dropped in specific leagues such as Voll’s Devotion or Scold’s Bridle. These items are very high value due to their rarity. Additionally, these uniques have been buffed. The developers realize that there are a lot of League uniques that were never fully used because of their uselessness. Lastly, this league is bringing back the legacy uniques. These are items that were nerfed because they were too powerful. These items are only available currently in standard league at absurdly high prices. In Legacy League, there will be rare reliquaries that drop that will lead you to a trove with a legacy unique inside. Some of the items you can get from these are 1000 life Kaom’s Hearts, 512% Shavronne’s Wrappings, and 1000% Facebreakers.
The news is out! Path of Exile: Fall of Oriath will be the 3.0 expansion for Path of Exile introducing not one, but six new Acts! Each of these acts will have new bosses themed around the power of the gods of Oriath. Fall of Oriath also does away with Cruel Difficulty making leveling faster and more exciting!
The lore behind this expansion is that when you killed The Nightmare in Act Four, you release something deadly. The Nightmare was consuming the power of the Gods. Now, they have been unleashed. You journey to your original homeland of Oriath in act 5 to find out what’s happening. When you journey back to Wraeclast, everything’s changed. The gods have unleashed their powers upon the each and every zone. Instead of encountering Brutus or Merveil again you will now encounter the Gods or some deadly entity released by them. When you reach Act 10, the final act, you will face off against the Gods themselves. After slaying the Gods, you gain a set of powers from each god that you can switch out based on the situation.
The communities hope is that this makes Path of Exile enjoyable for newer audiences. Although you and I may be able to level from 1-70 under 10 hours, it takes the average player 20 hours to do so! All 3 Acts are known to be very repetitive, long, and boring. I personally have known many people who quit Path of Exile because they didn’t want to level. Hopefully this Act makes leveling fun and fresh again. I believe GGG made a great decision focusing on fixing this issue in their great game instead of adding another Boss for endgame.
Path of Exile Act 5 is set to release later this year. While we do not know the exact date for its release, we do have some estimates. First of all, the 3.0 Act 5 expansion will not be released until June or July. This is because current Path of Exile leagues last for three months, and the next league is expected to launch on March 3rd, which would mean it ends around the beginning of June.
Second of all, GGG took almost four months after the end of Torment League to release Act 4! This means, if GGG decides to repeat history, that Act 5 could be released in October! However, many do not believe that is the case. I for one believe that GGG was not prepared properly to release Act 4. Going with this belief, my estimates are that Act 5 will be released in June or July of 2017.
It’s all fine and dandy when it will be released, but what’s in Act 5? In all honesty we do not know. However, we do have some educated guesses. Images 1, 2, 3, and, 4 have been captured from the Path of Exile Xbox One trailer. It is presumed that none of these images feature content from the current game and that they hint towards act 5. Additionally, the last two images on this page come from Act 5 as well. Comment what you think about these images below!
However, the biggest hint I have seen so far is the addition of a passage in Highgate. This passage was recently added and spotted and we have been wondering about it ever since. In the album, you can see the whole passage but the last picture is perhaps the most interesting. It shows two maps of Highgate. A previous one without the passage and one with. Where do you guys think this path leads to? I love how the adventure in Path of Exile always takes us north and I would love to see snow in Path of Exile. What would you like to see?
